We provide private addiction recovery services in Southern New Brunswick, supporting individuals and families through every stage of the journey—from first steps to long-term healing.

Why We Started

We saw the gaps.

  • Too many people struggling with addiction didn’t feel supported in traditional systems.

  • Too many families didn’t know where to turn.

  • Too many individuals were ready for change—but didn’t have the right environment to begin.

Hidden Secret was built to change that.

Our goal is simple: to create a space where people can step forward without fear, without judgment, and with the support they need to rebuild their lives.

The People Behind the Care

Hidden Secret Recovery is a family-founded program with a genuine clinical team behind it. Our staff includes a Registered Nurse, a Practical Nurse, a Licensed Addiction Counsellor, degree-trained social workers, and a CanAm-certified Interventionist — all providing regulated, hands-on care throughout every client's stay.   • Karen Thomas

    Karen Thomas

    Registered Nurse

    Karen brings decades of experience in addiction and mental health care to the Hidden Secret team. As a Registered Nurse with the New Brunswick Nurses Association, she spent much of her career with Horizon Health Network’s Addiction and Mental Health Program, including 15 years as Manager of Detox at Ridgewood.

    Kylee Keating

    Recovery Coach/BSW

    Kylee recently completed her Bachelor of Social Work and brings both academic training and frontline experience to her role at Hidden Secret Recovery. She holds a diploma in Social Services from NBCC and has worked with both youth and adults in mental health and addiction settings.

    Charles Dufty

    Licensed Addiction Counsellor

    Charlie grew up in Ontario, outside a small town about an hour north of Toronto. He’s a recent addition to New Brunswick and is happy to be part of the Hidden Secret family. Charlie holds an Addictions and Community Service Worker diploma and is a Certified Addictions Counsellor. In a previous role, he helped develop and facilitate a day program for people for whom residential treatment wasn’t a viable option, while also working in the residential treatment portion of the organization, before transitioning into a full-time residential role until joining Hidden Secret. With his own lived experience in addiction and several years in recovery, Charlie brings a relatable presence to group and individual counselling. He tempers the seriousness of recovery with humour and kindness, while making sure those he’s helping feel supported and understood. A firm believer that recovery is possible for everyone, Charlie’s passion lies in giving hope to those who have lost it in their battle with addiction.

    Calli Patterson

    Peer Supports Worker

    Calli has been working at Hidden Secret Recovery since June 2026. She is a Practical Nurse and Peer Support Worker with both professional and personal experience in addiction. She has dedicated her heart and soul to this work — she feels it’s not just a job but a way of life.

    Emma Morton

    Social Services Community Worker, Counsellor (Case Manager) & Family Service Coordinator

    Emma brings a compassionate, client-centered approach to Hidden Secret Recovery, combining her education with a genuine passion for supporting individuals and families affected by addiction. She completed the Social Service Community Worker program at New Brunswick Community College and is currently completing her Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Maine. Emma has dedicated her time to creating and preparing to deliver Hidden Secret’s Family Program. Her own personal experiences with the impact of addiction have inspired her commitment to creating spaces where both those seeking recovery and their loved ones feel understood and supported. Emma is dedicated to reducing the stigma surrounding addiction and providing trauma-informed care that helps individuals feel valued and respected throughout their recovery journey.

    Logan Saunders

    Client Residential Worker (BSW Candidate)

    Logan supports individuals navigating addiction and recovery. His work is informed by his own recovery journey — having completed treatment in 2023, He holds a deep belief in people’s capacity for change and connects with clients from a place of genuine understanding. He is currently completing his Bachelor of Social Work at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John, with plans to pursue a Master of Social Work and clinical practice thereafter. Based in the Saint John area, he is committed to strengthening addiction and mental health support across the community.

    Human Services Counsellor

    A graduate of Oulton College's Human Services Counselling program, Blayne supports day-to-day client care with a counselling-informed approach.

    Lisa Beman

    Co-Founder, Administration & Family Support

    Lisa is one of the founding members of Hidden Secret Recovery and the steady heart behind much of its day-to-day operations. With a background in business administration and a lifelong dedication to family, she brings both professional expertise and deeply personal experience to her role.

    As the mother of a loved one in recovery, Lisa knows the toll addiction takes on families—and the hope that comes with healing. Her warmth, patience, and unwavering belief in second chances make her a trusted presence for both clients and their families.

    Lisa’s mission is to break the stigma around addiction, create space for meaningful recovery, and ensure that every person who walks through Hidden Secret’s doors feels supported and seen. She and her husband Mike have been married for over 39 years, raised two sons, and are now proud grandparents to eight grandchildren—reminding us all of the strength found in love, resilience, and family.

    With over 30 years of experience as a business owner and entrepreneur, Mike brings financial leadership and heartfelt purpose to Hidden Secret Recovery. As both a co-founder and father who has personally walked alongside a loved one through addiction, his commitment to this work runs deep.

    Mike’s approach is rooted in compassion, resilience, and a belief that recovery is not only possible—it’s transformational. He plays an active role in supporting both the operations of the centre and the individuals and families we serve, offering encouragement and wisdom shaped by lived experience.

    A devoted husband, father, and mentor, Mike helps foster a healing environment where clients feel empowered to rebuild their lives—one step at a time. His message is simple but powerful: no dream is too big, and no detail too small, when you're ready to give recovery your all.

    Adam Beman

    Co-Founder & Director

    Adam leads Hidden Secret Recovery with lived experience, relentless passion, and a deep commitment to changing the conversation around addiction. After finding recovery himself, he dedicated his life to helping others do the same—becoming a certified interventionist, Narcan-trained advocate, and community leader.

    From launching youth-focused 12-step groups to guiding families through crisis, Adam brings a direct, tough-love approach grounded in total abstinence and real connection. His leadership at Hidden Secret reflects this mission: no cookie-cutter programs, just personalized, compassionate care rooted in the power of community and recovery.

    Outside of work, Adam is a proud dad, youth hockey coach, and classic car enthusiast. He shares this journey with his wife Samantha, who stands beside him in life and in the mission to help others heal.

    Samantha is often the first friendly face guests see at Hidden Secret Recovery. In long-term recovery herself, she brings a deep understanding of the strength it takes to begin again.

    Dan Debow

    Client Residential Worker, Retired Paramedic

    With 20 years of paramedic service and seven years of sobriety, Dan blends professional expertise with lived experience to support clients navigating addiction and crisis. He transformed a 30-year battle with alcoholism into a source of strength, purpose, and advocacy. Today, he works as a client support worker committed to helping others reclaim their lives, just as he reclaimed his own.

    Shawn Flanagan

    Client Residential Worker, Certified Peer Support

    Shawn is a Certified Peer Support Worker, sober since July 1, 2022. With the help of AA, the 12 Steps, and a Higher Power, life has taken on a whole new meaning — and he’s found that life is so rewarding when you’re helping others.

    Travis Gallant

    Client Residential Worker

    First Aid/CPR certified and bringing 10 years of personal recovery experience, following 14 years of lived experience with addiction. His journey has given him a deep understanding of the challenges individuals face throughout addiction and recovery. Through his faith in Jesus Christ, he’s found hope, purpose, and a new life. He is committed to using his experience to support others with compassion, understanding, and encouragement as they pursue their own path to recovery.

    Ashley Belding

    Chef

    Ashley is the Head Chef at Hidden Secret Recovery. She is deeply passionate about helping others on their recovery journey. Having lived experience with addiction herself allows her to connect with clients through compassion, understanding, and hope. In addition to her personal journey, she has previous experience working in addiction rehabilitation, which has further strengthened her passion for supporting those in recovery. Finding value in the meaningful bonds she builds with clients and strives to make everyone feel seen, supported, and encouraged. She brings positive energy into everything she does and believes that nourishing the body is an important part of healing — every meal she prepares is made with care, purpose, and love.

    Avrie Shaw

    Chef / Cleaner

    After high school, Avrie graduated welding school before following her passion for hairstyling and becoming a licensed hairdresser. She still works as a hairdresser while also working part-time at Hidden Secret Recovery. During the week, she helps out wherever she’s needed, and on weekends she prepares meals for clients in the kitchen. She also enjoys giving clients haircuts — another way to help them feel confident and cared for. One of her favorite parts of working at Hidden Secret is getting to know the clients and building genuine connections with them. Being part of their recovery journey is incredibly rewarding, and she’s grateful to be part of a team dedicated to making a positive difference in people’s lives.

    Jeff O'Donnell

    Client Residental Worker

    A 35-year-old father of four and a small business owner, he is incredibly grateful for the opportunities that life in recovery has provided. Having been through treatment, sober living, and the 12 Steps several times through different fellowships. Through those experiences, he learned the importance of perseverance, humility, and giving back. There was a time when he thought he was knocking on death’s door, but through recovery, he’s been given a new life — a life to be proud of and grateful to share with others. Today, he’s committed to continuing his journey, helping others find hope, and giving back to the recovery community that has given him so much.
